This essay aims to analyze the empowerment and struggle of Nicaraguan women in contexts of war, memory, and resistance, based on an analysis of the film La canción de Carla. The study examines how the forms of oppression experienced during the armed conflict of the 1980s are linked to processes of female agency and empowerment. From an approach that integrates gender perspective, systemic modeling, and humanistic geography, it is evident that power relations, emotions, and historical experience permeate women’s lives, shaping simultaneous scenarios of vulnerability and transformative action. The analysis highlights women not only as victims of war, but also as active agents of resistance, social reconstruction, and historical memory. The filming of the movie in Nicaragua in 1996, in territories marked by armed conflict, allows for a situated understanding of female empowerment in contexts of structural violence.
