About the Journal

Focus and scope

Raíces Journal is a virtual publication of the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, UNAN - Managua. It reflects the mission and vision of UNAN - Managua. Raíces was founded in the Department of Anthropology in 2016, and in 2023 it became a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary project run by the Department of Social and Political Sciences of UNAN - Managua.

The Journal is the result of the experience of a group of teachers, researchers, students and many collaborators who accompany us, inside and outside the University, with the purpose of promoting critical research, committed to the most vulnerable sectors of society.

Raíces is a virtual journal that publishes two issues a year and is characterized by being an open window to reflection from the South, animated by the values of equity and social justice.

We hope that this space becomes increasingly plural, convinced of contributing to sustainable human development from the sociocultural realities and experiences of its protagonists: men, women, youth, children of the peoples of our America.
