In this essay, a socioeconomic x-ray of the different social classes existing in Peru in the seventies is carried out, from the perspective of Political Anthropology. A critical study is made of the categories of analysis existing at that time, to describe society and its classes. Resulting in a current proposal today. This in-depth analysis of Peruvian society at the beginning of the seventies occurs in the context of the social revolution of Velazco Alvarado (1968-1975), which was part of a series of revolutions during two decades (60-70) that developed in South America, within the framework of the so-called Democratic Caesarism. The writing represents a criticism of the middle class of that time, due to its ambiguity in the face of the revolutionary transformations carried out by the Velazquez Revolution. The author finished writing this text in Cuzco, Peru, on July 9, 1971. It remained unpublished for more than four decades. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his passage to another plane of life, it is published today, as a tribute to his memory.
