The work exposes the main antecedents, concepts,
tendencies and challenges between the extension
and the social responsibility of the university, taking
as a point of inflexion the paper that corresponds
to the university and in particular to the extension
process in the Latin American context. The authors
ratify the need to improve the extension process and
its management in order to achieve superior results,
so that this puts them in a position to enhance all the
mechanisms that drive it in a complex scenario like the
one that is revealed today in the region. concluding
that from more difficult moments the extension has
been victorious and that to the extent that it is more
relevant, it will achieve the impacts that are required
at present. Because of its validity, the postulates of
the Cordoba Reform must continue to be the line of
principles that universities and, in particular, extension
agents must assume as a guide in their management,
especially oriented to pay in a sensitive and committed
manner to the solution of the problems that afflict to
our countries.
