Abstract

In this work we present a comparative study of the productions of some Participative Research referents.
Texts by Orlando Fals Borda, Paulo Freire, João Bosco Guedes Pinto, Michel Thiollent, María Teresa Sirvent and Joel
Martí are analised. This work is part of the recent process of university transformation in Uruguay, in particular, in one
of its initiatives: that of the curricular integration of extension through what has been called “comprehensive university
practices”. In this framework, the theoretical-methodological reflection on critical extension and the action-research
practices connected with it are essential to provide ongoing initiatives with greater academic relevance and
transformative potential.
