Abstract

The 21st century has been a century of substantial educational changes; teachers have been involved in a deep process of pedagogical self-reflection that has led to the appropriation of the discourse of educational innovations as an essential element to obtain improvements in educational results. Among this network of innovations placed at the center of discussion of the academic debate, the present essay aims to generate a space for educational reflection among practicing and training teachers, around the participatory methodologies of students in social science classes as an essential factor within pedagogical innovation. To do this, the essay begins by making a dense journey through the problems related to didactic methodologies and the little role that the student has in them, then raises the issue of participatory methodologies as an element of educational innovation in learning processes, in order to finally lay the foundations of the challenges faced by teachers regarding the implementation of participatory methodologies in the classroom, taking as a main reference the context of the society that advances and innovates day by day.
