Abstract

The role of higher education institutions is becoming more committed to society, which is why UNESCO, has emphasized the essential functions of higher education, which must be consistent with society; talking about internationalization, extension, and research, guide the formation of integral people with a broad worldview, social awareness, ability to generate changes in their environment, so that they build a culture of coexistence, collective development and harmony with the environment. Health students in the particular case, Nursing students, are carrying out complex processes of community work from the health education strategy; health promotion, and disease prevention in a new culture of self-care, in the different stages of life, actions that are directly linked to the essential functions of the University from internationalization, extension, and research.
