This research was carried out during the first semester of the 2023 academic year on the Siuna University campus in the Autonomous Region of the North Caribbean Coast. Its objective was to assess the relevance of the professional profile in teaching performance within the Intercultural Community University model. To do so, a quantitative methodological approach was used, using a survey with closed questions (dichotomous, Likert scale and open) addressed to teachers and an observation guide and conversations with area coordinators.
The research findings are related to the academic level of the teaching staff. It was found that 50% of teachers have a bachelor's or engineering degree, while 42% have a master's degree. In addition, it was observed that specialty and master's studies are not related to the specific professional training of teachers. Despite this, teaching performance obtained an average score of 94 points, which is translated on a qualitative scale, as excellent performance.
However, areas requiring improvement were identified. Assessment instruments do not adequately stimulate the development of skills for analysis and interpretation. In addition, feedback is not provided after assessment processes, and diagnostic assessment and peer assessment are not implemented. It was also observed that teachers do not carry out free research, which limits professional and academic development.
