Abstract

Health is a fundamental right in the life of the human being, it is a resource for daily, integral, and biopsychosocial life. Therefore, we must educate ourselves in health because through education, health is promoted through the commitment to carry out a full life. Health education unites two areas: education and health, because we believe that there can be no education without health, or health without education. It is necessary that Health Education should be legislated and included in the different levels of education since these are favorable places for the implementation and promotion of health, even more so at the university level where habits and lifestyles can be strengthened healthy individual and collective. For this, teachers must be trained to strengthen theoretical and methodological knowledge. Educating for health is a useful strategy for health promotion since it is a learning process that informs, motivates and helps the population and that has as its goal, the adaptation of human behavior and lifestyles to maintain and improve health. Etymologically, Health Education has different connotations. In 1975, it was defined as healthy habits for the population, to acquire knowledge, modify their behaviors, make changes in the environment, improve lifestyles, and train, holding the community responsible. Therefore, Higher Education must become a transversal axis, conducive to subjects: Comprehensive Training Seminar, psychology and sociology.
