Effects of economic inflation on the purchasing power of priority products and services in households in the eastern zone

The phenomenon of economic inflation causes a series of effects on the purchasing power of priority products and services for household food security, a verifiable and recurring event in various times and socioeconomic realities, so that it is not the exception among the population of the eastern zone of El Salvador. Therefore, the study of the effects of economic inflation on purchasing power in households, the difficulty in accessing coverage of the basic food basket, as well as coping with the costs linked to the health and education of families is considered Of interest for understanding the experiences of population sectors exposed to economic and social vulnerability, this analysis allows proposing public policies for their mitigation. This article presents the main findings obtained from a survey administered to 454 representatives of households in the eastern area through which they reported the impact caused by economic inflation, understood as the general increase in prices while salaries remain the same. invariably, in the family budget, in addition, four personal interviews with renowned economists are synthesized who offer their point of view and suggestions to address the impact caused by the inflationary problem in households.
