Societies that aspire to be inclusive recognize and promote learning processes based on mutual respect and collaborative coexistence between different cultures. This article presents an approach to the possibilities for developing intercultural competencies and communication through literary language among undergraduate students and teaching staff of Language and Literature at the Doctor Luis Alonso Aparicio Pedagogical University of El Salvador. The research focuses on the opportunities offered by literary language as a social and affective vehicle for promoting intercultural education. It focuses on the learning process of the values of respect, tolerance, and solidarity embodied in the diversity of a shared culture. To achieve these objectives, interviews were conducted with program coordinators, a survey was conducted with a sample of 250 students, and a review of the course content of the study programs was conducted to identify potential areas for intercultural training. In this regard, it was concluded that the use of literary language as a social and emotional vehicle is very important for building and enriching a society that respects intercultural values and competencies.Abstract
