Abstract

This research was developed through the documentation and analysis of various alabados, chants, and sones that are still preserved in the collective memory of the people of Izalco. It offers a journey through different religious festivities —from the Feast of the Assumption of Mary to the Child God of Bethlehem— featuring expressions such as “Suba la que es virgen” and the traditional “Jeu”. These elements encapsulate and convey both sacred and profane worldviews of the divine, forming an intangible cultural heritage that endures to this day, adorning communal identities and bringing joy to the saints.
