This study analyzes, using descriptive and multivariate techniques, the admission profile and students’ academic trajectory of the 2017 cohort of the Francisco Morazán National Pedagogical University; for which the demographic and economic condition, academic background, results of the academic aptitude test and indicators of the academic trajectory (enrollment, dropout, mobility, regularity and academic success) are considered. The study shows that a small number of variables of the admission profile explain the academic trajectory, and that the influence of the variables differs by academic year analyzed and by academic faculty to which the students are assigned. Also, it was found that the academic aptitude test is a predictor of performance in Spanish and Mathematics courses; however, it does not appear regularly as a predictor for other variables of academic trajectory. Finally, the academic trajectories of the students are quite irregular, with the performances of the student during one year being strong predictors of success in the next year.
