Abstract

The following article titled “THE MIPYME`S STATUS IN HONDURAS, CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY” is the result of a research project which aims to establish what is the current status of the MIPYME sector in Honduras , its main requirements and opportunities in the XXI century to help guide future entrepreneurs and current members of the MIPYME sector of Honduran society in order to meet these challenges with an innovative attitude, creative thinking and able to compete in an increasingly globalized world, supported by technology, the internet , social networks and information systems . All of this, in order to generate the necessary spaces that will contribute to the development of a positive economic impact in the country.

During the development of the project, an amount of existing literature and studies on MIPYME in Honduras was recollected, including aspects related to the present situation of MIPYME in Honduras and its statistical information during the last decade. The final results of this project will help establish the current support strategies (national and international organizations) in order to encourage opportunities for the Honduras MIPYME.
