Abstract

The objective of the present investigation was to analyze the historical development of the guitar in Honduras, in the cities of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, places where there is a greater reference in the academic and artistic-musical scope. In addition to interviewing exponents of the art specifically of the guitar also included directors of musical education centers and personalities of the national happening that have historical references of the artistic, social, cultural, economic and political synergy of the country. Professor Donaldo Umanzor, 90 years old (Tegucigalpa) and Don Francisco Carranza, 72 years old (San Pedro Sula), were key informants due to their age, trajectory, feasibility, and geographical location. The research checks the theoretical gap that existed on the subject has described a chronology of the precursors of the study of the guitar in the country, its biography, and work, contributions in teaching, methodologies, scores and graphic memories. It was evidenced the development of the guitar in the academic context in the last ten years. In the institutions of formal and non-formal education, specifically the National School of Music, the Propaedeutic Plan and the Bachelor's degree of Music with Orientation in Guitar of the UNAH, institutions that have had more demand and therefore more terminal efficiency. The Anthology of Guitar in Honduras is the result of the present investigation, being the first time that a guitar repertoire is systematically ordered, considering the age of the authors as a result of the investigation.
