Abstract

On Friday, December 1, 2023, the National Autonomous University of Honduras through the Strategic Communication Department, held a special recognition ceremony in honor of the distinguished Honduran poet and writer Oscar Armando Valladares for his outstanding career in Directorate of Culture of the UNAH and in the literary field at the national level. This event took place in the space occupied by the university dining room in building 1847 of the Ciudad Universitaria José Trinidad Reyes with the presence of the honoree, his family and close friends, as well as university authorities and different personalities from the academic life of the university.

Due to the relevance of this historic act that honors a prominent figure of national literatura and university history as well, we reproduce two speeches given within the framework of such great vent.

Mario Hernán Mejía Herrera, Director of Culture of the National Autonomous University of Honduras

Director of Culture of the National Autonomous University of Honduras, Master in Cultural Management (Open University of Catalonia / University of Girona, Spain); Postgraduate in Cooperation for Development in Education, Science and Culture (UNED-OEI, Madrid); Bachelor's Degree in Dramatic Literature and Theater (UNAM- Mexico).

Oscar Armando Valladares, Former Director of Culture Directorate at UNAH

Public Relations Advisor, director of University Extension; of Culture; and manager of the Fourth University Reform, editor of the University Magazine for several years and began the promotion of the academic years that during his administration exalted the figures of Juan Ramón Molina, Froylán Turcios Visitación Padilla, Ramón Oquelí, Clementina Suárez and Roberto Sosa . During his administration, he reactivated the award of the José Trinidad Reyes Annual Literature Prize and is a writer and author of several books.
