From a genealogical perspective, referring to how the current situation in Honduras has come about requires historical attention to the eternal return of the rubble of such a present past. Our historical experience is symbolized in a fatalistic and recursive image, as if we were frozen in time, in a repetitive loop without historical memory. Therefore, asking about the future of Honduras leads to expressing really negative and pessimistic ways of feeling; since there is precisely no Minerva owl on the horizon to guide our future with intelligence, nor any hummingbird bringing change and hope. The destination is becoming dark and gloomy. The utopias of a better world, far from being fulfilled, become dystopias: this is material conditions of decadence that are products of repetitive democratic setbacks, crises of values and, therefore, are the reflection of the lack of progress in citizen construction. of a historical project of national identity. However, nothing is written in stone, today within the framework of more than two hundred years of independent life, Honduras must seriously rethink a historical liberation to overcome the past and build a better future under current conditions.
