Abstract

Adequately practiced, lutherie in Honduras can generate employment and environmental protection. This paper outlines a model that goes beyond monetary profit, creating widely spread social, economic, environmental, and cultural benefits. That model includes a network of agroforestry communities and workshops that work together to produce high quality musical instruments, and generates a growth spiral that creates knowledge, sustainable wealth, and a diverse array of direct and indirect employment opportunities for micro, small and medium sized businesses.
