Abstract

This essay has reflected on the role of civil society in the defense and protection of human rights with a brief emphasis on gender awareness and its defense in the international context. It was carried out from a documentary methodology with a phenomenological approach in the main theorists: Arato and Cohen (1994), Jan Aart Scholte, (2001), Vieira and DuPree (2004 United Nations Organization (UN), among others. It is concluded that civil society and the human rights movement should focus on strengthening and deepening the validation of standards that lead to the creation of a logic of respect for them
