Abstract

This essay presents the results of the analysis of education as a social organization that contributes to responding to current society problems. A reflection is made on social organization, characteristics, and typologies, defining what an open social system is, education as an open social system, and the contribution of education to society. Likewise, the case of Nicaragua with its educational subsystems, governing entities, and public policies are mentioned. For the development of this work, a bibliographic type of research was applied. The Research Analytical Summaries (RAI) method was used and adapted, which consists of synthesizing key points of the referenced authors. It was developed in three steps: Literature reviews on a given topic, RAI analysis, and answers to some guiding questions. The main conclusion is that education can be considered an open social system where the ability to make adjustments to teaching and learning processes in volatile and changing environments such as those we have been facing in the last five years, due to the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), migrations and pandemics, has been relevant.
