Abstract

This paper analyzes the people of Japan experience in adapting an extension methodology to get ahead. It is an explanatory qualitative research from a hermeneutic perspective where texts, documents, reports, articles, interviews with extensionist women and visits in the Okinawa-Japan prefecture were analyzed. The Seikasu Kaizen life improvement approach is a movement that developed in Japan after the Second World War and its main concept is "empowerment of the community families" through the realization of small activities in everyday life. The article says how they did it, the concept, characteristics, types; Comparison of models, implemented techniques, role of extension agents and experiences in Latin America identifying weaknesses such as political influence and conventional approaches, finally it is concluded that the Japanese experience for its application must be adjusted to our multicultural context
