Thoracian barnacles on the rocky shore of Punta Amapala, La Unión, El Salvador

Thoracic cirripedes are known worldwide as acorn and goose barnacles. They live adhered to hard bottom, shells, shells of organisms, even in other crustaceans and cetaceans. They are named by the presence of a series of cirrus in their legs, which facilitate them to perform various activities, like swimming, feeding, reproduction, etc. They are plankton feeders, competitors for space, and pioneer colonizers of rocky intertidal. Despite being a very representative group of this habitat, it is a poorly known group, about their species present on coasts of El Salvador. This study had the goal of summarizing the richness of species in three beaches belonging to Punta Amapala, in the department of La Unión, El Salvador. This study presented information about ten species divided into six genera.
