Abstract

Specimens collected in El Salvador more than 46 years ago and included in the fish collection at the Field Museum, Chicago, USA, were photographed to divulgate their conditions and compare the geographic distribution with current information. Specimen data from families Ariidae and Atherinidae after 45 years indicate that they occur currently at the original collection place. The same happened for fishes of the families Atherinidae, Cichlidae and Heptapteridae captured in 1924, but P. motaguensis has potentially disappeared in some water bodies where it existed previously.
