Abstract

This essay reflects on the influence that 19th century English poetry has had on the poetic creation process of Salvadoran writer Jorge Galán, who has been influenced by some of the literary resources of the romantic movement to build and elaborate an original and novel poetic discourse. Likewise, Galán's poem Transeúnte and the poem Camposanto al Sur de Escocia, by the Welsh poet William Wordsworth, are analyzed to identify traits of the romantic literary style in the poem of the Salvadoran writer. In this way, a series of processes of experimentation with poetic language and narrative language is proposed, which allows Galán to cross between lyrical and narrative language. In this way, it is considered that allegory -from the perspective of human life experience- is a fundamental element in Galán's poetry through which the poet elaborates a complex style using poetic rhetoric, the philosophy of language and visual languages. Finally, it is reflected that Galán has managed to interweave multiple elements of the socio-historical reality and specialized reading that have achieved transformations in the current poetic language with which he would have inaugurated
the modern Salvadoran poetry.
