This essay analyzes how higher education can face the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the information society to develop critical thinking in students. From a multidimensional approach, it reflects on the role of information technologies in the transformation of educational processes and their impact on the comprehensive training of future professionals. It examines the duality of ICTs, which broaden access to knowledge, but also generate challenges such as infoxication and disinformation. Pedagogical strategies are identified for universities to integrate these tools effectively, seeking a balance between technological innovation and educational quality. The role of the university as a promoter of critical and ethical competencies is to be strengthened. This includes not only the incorporation of ICTs in the classroom, but also the creation of environments conducive to reflection, debate and informed decision-making. Such elements contribute to the formation of active and responsible citizens in a globalized world. It also highlights the need to foster a culture of critical thinking through information literacy, access to ICTs and teacher training in digital pedagogies, as carried out by the Francisco Gavidia University. Thus, students will be able to master technologies and use them ethically to transform their environment and contribute to sustainable development.
