Research agendas, knowledge management and territorial innovation in Nicaragua: strategies for the compliance of public policies

Abstract

Territorial development in Nicaragua is a complex process that seeks to improve the quality of life and strengthen local economies, considering the particularities of each region. Historical, geographic and socioeconomic factors influence this process, which requires a deep understanding of the local context in order to design effective and sustainable public policies. Citizen participation and collective action are essential to achieve inclusive development, where collaboration between governments, communities and the private sector plays a key role. This essay highlights the importance of establishing research agendas that respond to territorial needs and proposes strategic guidelines focused on territorial innovation, technology transfer, and creative economy. It also addresses challenges and opportunities in the implementation of public policies aimed at territorial development, emphasizing the need to strengthen inter-institutional articulation mechanisms and knowledge management. The proposal seeks to contribute to the consolidation of sustainable innovation ecosystems in Nicaragua, promoting development models that integrate various sectors and key actors in the country's strategic planning. It also highlights successful initiatives in other contexts that could be adapted to the Nicaraguan reality, promoting the implementation of best practices and methodologies for sustainable development.
