The Creative writing in Salvadoran educational contexts

Creative writing is explored as a powerful tool for personal development, self-knowledge, and social transformation. This type of writing emphasizes the capacity for liberating individual expression, fostering introspection, and promoting growth at both the individual and collective levels. Despite the negative experiences associated with writing in traditional banking education, the practice of this type of writing offers a space for self-discovery and the consolidation of identity. When one's thoughts and emotions are captured in text, the individual reflects on their experiences to better understand themselves and develop greater self-awareness. The importance of creative writing from childhood to university presupposes providing students with a pedagogical tool to enhance their comprehensive development of: creativity and imagination, critical thinking, analytical skills, free expression, language skills, and effective communication, and contributes to increasing emotional intelligence and empathy. Higher education institutions are encouraged to implement creative writing, and although it is a virtually unexplored pedagogical resource in the country, its potential for building a more humane and equitable future must be recognized.
