Social Volunteering as an expression of University Extension

Abstract

Social volunteering is an essential manifestation of university outreach and its comprehensive conception as a fundamental function of higher education. In a broad sense, it can be defined as the set of actions that contribute to the holistic development of students through their voluntary and supportive participation in tasks aimed at mitigating problems and emergencies faced by the university community and vulnerable sectors of Nicaraguan society, thus contributing to the improvement of their living conditions
