Economic impact of COVID-19 in productive sectors of eastern El Salvador during 2020

Abstract

The study verifies the economic effects generated during the mandatory home quarantine by COVID-19 in the productive sectors through the population considered in the micro and small companies, in the eastern area of ​​El Salvador. In addition, it investigates the possible recovery measures visualized by this sector. The methodology used was predominantly qualitative; The research identifies which is the productive sector most affected by the national emergency COVID 2019, it is deduced that, with the interruption of the productive chain, employment, and income of families in the microenterprise sector was reduced. Also, it is shown that the government measures that most affected the productive sectors of the eastern zone were, the restriction of circulation, and the mandatory home quarantine. With this work it was found that 73.9% of the microentrepreneur population of the Eastern zone under study did not receive the $ 300.00 bonus granted as a government subsidy to help these sectors.
