Puma concolor is a large cat of wide distribution, present in almost the entire american continent. Historically for El Salvador, the presence of this species has been registered, in different parts of the country. However, in espite of the efforts realized by the scientific documentation of the species, its current situation is unknown. It is present the compilation of the information about a local encounter with a wild specimen in a town in the department of Morazán, which constitutes reliable evidence of the occurrence of this cat in the country.
