Abstract

The relationship between universities and companies has traditionally been weak, there has been little or no State mediation to help strengthen this relationship. Consequently, each sector has been carrying out its work as it deems appropriate. The institutions, by exercising their commitment to society individually and isolated, they miss great opportunities to work together, enriching, and synergistic work that could contribute to offering better results to the country. Historically they have persisted dissociated efforts between the business sector and higher education institutions, which has generated dissatisfaction in the expectations of employers, pointing out gaps in the academic training and the actual performance of new professionals. So far, the mutual communication and interaction has been weak and atomized, lacking vision regarding benefits that can be obtained if they were to work associatively, under state arbitration, such as true strategic allies. In this task, the purpose of addressing the mechanisms that strengthen the university-company relationship to generate job opportunities in the Eastern Zone of El Salvador, profiling the student's competencies, inquiring into the labor requirements established by companies, and contrasting the business and educational vision in compliance with the commitment to socioeconomic development of the country. The information was provided by university students, companies and academic officials of the universities established in the East Zone of the country. The research is theoretically supported by the most recent models of tripartite university-company-state linkage.
