Abstract

This work was performed in the communal lands Las Coloradas Cardenas, Tabasco, in order to quantify the volume of timber of black mangrove (A. germinans, killed by caterpillars of one species of moth Anacamptodes sp during 2010-2011.There were established 10 monitoring sites from rectangular shape of 20 x 50m. for permanent evaluation. It was assessed health status of the trees, the diameter at breast height; total height and height of the shaft clean were evaluated. It was calculated the basal area (m2ha-1), total volume of clean bole (m3ha-1)and was estimated the density of trees per species. The values obtained were arranged in diameter classes with amplitude of 5cm. An analysis of simple linear correlation between height and diameter at breast height was applied. In total 1,831 trees were evaluated three species, three genera and three plant families. The black mangrove (A. germinans) represented 99.6% of all trees assessed, the density of trees per hectare ranged from 750-2520 ha-1. The 42.9% of registered trees were alive and 57.1% were dead. Specifically, the black mangrove recorded a Vt of 68.3 m3ha-1, a Vfl of 24.6 m3ha-1 and a AB of 12.4 m2ha-1. The category of 5- 9.9cm DBH recorded 45% of registered trees. The correlation of DBH and height of the black mangrove, was moderately significant positive (r² = 0.5313, p=2.2 e-16).
