Mestizo migration in Bosawás

This report examines some of the most salient demographic characteristics of the migration process of mestizo settlers into the BOSAWAS reserve and proposes to attempt some population projections that, as hypotheses, could be corroborated by new census figures both in the current year 2001 and in about five more years. Although these projections cover different scenarios with varying levels of plausibility, in all cases the message is disturbing: the mestizo population continues and will continue to grow, the only question to discover is the extent of this growth.
