Abstract

Innovation has a great impact on universities, because it allows institutions to adapt to changes in the world and improve the quality of education they offer. Main objective of our monographic research: to describe the impact of the Open Innovation Center of the Bluefields Indian & Caribbean University during the second semester of 2019, in the city of Bluefields. Approach to the problem: lack of a systematization of impact on the development of innovative competencies offered by this center to the population, through the services of the university community. The study is descriptive in nature, as it explains the formative characteristics of this university instance under a qualitative approach. Results obtained: The BICU Open Innovation Center has indicators of scope for the development of acquired and applied competencies, knowledge and skills, appropriation of concepts related to innovation ecosystems and the creation of a professional environment for innovation managers within the community of teachers and students. This BICU-Bluefields innovation center fosters the development of entrepreneurial skills that contribute to local economic development, exchange and collaboration that enrich the innovation ecosystem.
