Autonomy for the Coast “neither magic nor taboo”.

On December 5, 1984, the Nicaraguan government announced the formation of the National Autonomy Commission, which will be in charge of drafting an autonomy statute for the Atlantic Coast. At the same time, two regional commissions were formed, one in Special Zone I (North Zelaya) and the other in Special Zone 11 (South Zelaya), to assist in the elaboration of the project in their respective zones.
