The following Creole English story has as its main character Anancy the spider man Anancy is the protagonist of many West African and Caribbean tales, in which you often have magical characteristics. In this Creole version he appears more like an ordinary farmer, and solves his problem by means of cleverness, not magic. This story appears in John Holm's book (1978), transcribed in a “phonetic” spelling. It was transcribed in ordinary English spelling at a bilingual education teachers' workshop in Bluefields in January 1987.
