First version of the situation of this part of America called the Mosquito Coast 1757
Keywords:
Atlantic Coast, Nicaragua, National historyAbstract
The english text, written by Robert Hodgson, is a version of the Mosquito Coast that collects reports on this region from 1753 to 1757. Although the trips that allowed him to document it were made “in commission of service” to the British Crown, the text was written to present it to the officials of the English Government in charge of colonial affairs, and to make merit in his candidacy to the position of Superintendent of the Mosquito Coast. This document was published in Edinburgh in 1822, using a manuscript that we do not know. The one we have taken is in the Public Record Office of London and was made in 1757.
