There is no doubt that, since the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution, a deep interest has been awakened in that vast portion of Nicaragua that we simply call the Coast. And the fact is that we have not yet defined that special area (there is a reason why it has been called that way, perhaps with the intention of emphasizing that “special specificity”), which is like the hidden face of our nationality: the vast and mysterious region that we need to know, recognize and integrate into our self-awareness as a sovereign state. We always want to travel to the Coast, because this trip, more than a recreational trip, is like an attempt to rescue something that is part of our body; a part that feels elusive, absent, flowing like a river that rushes to the other side of the world.
