During the first decades of the present century, almost the same number of newspapers that existed on the Coast circulated in the main cities of the Pacific. In Managua, for example, according to records, there were about 20 newspapers in the period. The same occurred in León and Granada. This leads us to believe that during the 1920s there was intense socio-economic activity on the Coast. So far, this material is almost unknown, and has been used very little in the different studies carried out on the Coast. In them we can find information on various aspects of importance: commercial activity, political and social life of the people of the coast. We are going to refer to the newspapers that were published during the first three decades of the present century. We choose this period because it was the most dynamic, the time of the boom in the extractive economy, banana cultivation and timber cutting on the coast. During these three decades, approximately 20 newspapers were published in the region, to which should be added those that eventually arrived from the Pacific region.
