Abstract

The maypole tree, one of the most noticeable species of the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, also known as zopilote and botarrarna, is a very important tree in the culture of the Coast. Even though its wood is not considered arming those of the highest commercial value, it is of great use in construction, manufacturing of furniture and many other uses. This article analyzes its behavior in the hurricane devastated forest, and based on that, the author gives some important recommendations for its utilization.
