On September 4, 2007, hurricane Felix hit the north atlantic autonomous region (RAAN) affecting some 200,000 people. This article systematically reviews relief projects funded by the European Union for two purposes. First, the article seeks to identify lessons learned from the projects. Second, it considers the correlation between direct and indirect forms of relief aid and the rehabilitation and sustainable development of communities affected by the hurricane.
