Abstract

There exist many studies about the Nicaraguan Caribbean generated from different academic centers, particular institutions and interests. This situation created the need to elaborate the present investigation of the existing cultural studies about the peoples of the Nicaraguan Caribbean Coast. The inventory and its exposition provide information about the located bibliography and identifies possible areas of research giving in this way support and encouragement to new cultural, archeological, and creative investigations, as well pertinent translations that will serve the same purpose.

Author Biography

María Dolores Álvarez Arzate

María Dolores Álvarez Arzate es una destacada académica nicaragüense, nacida en México en 1959. Es máster en Antropología-Etnología desde 1999 y es docente y miembro fundadora del Departamento de Antropología de la Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias Jurídicas de la UNAN-Managua. Ha impartido cursos de posgrado en diversas instituciones, incluyendo la Universidad de Zürich, la Universidad Mayor de San Andrés en Bolivia, y ha enseñado en la UNAN-Managua, URACCAN, UNI y UCA. Actualmente, imparte cursos de grado en la UNAN-Managua y la UPOLI.
