Abstract

In the community of Orinoco, municipality of Laguna de Perlas, RAAS, there is an initiative to rescue and integrate traditional medicine into the health model. This research systematizes this ancestral practice, with the objective of strengthening this important effort that intends to enrich the current health model in the region, with the ancestral knowledge of the Garifuna population of Orinoco.

Forn Prudencia López Stephen: Orinoco, RAAS, 1975. Investigadora comunitaria. Técnica en Laboratorio Bacteriológico 1995-2000; graduada en enfermería por la Escuela Perla María Norori de Bluefields, 1993-1994. En la actualidad se desempeña como enfermera y técnico laboratorista en el Centro de Salud de Laguna de Perlas. También es brigadista de salud.
