Contemporary Cosmovision on Livelihoods of the Mayangna and Mestizo Coastal People, Nicaraguan North Caribbean

Abstract

First approach to the contemporary worldview on the livelihoods of the Mayangna and coastal mestizo peoples in territories of the Mining Triangle, North Caribbean of Nicaragua. The research was carried out with methods and techniques of cultivation and breeding of wisdom and knowledge in the Mayangna territories Sauni Bas, Tuahka, Arungka and Sauni As, and for each territory a neighboring mestizo community; It was carried out with the free, prior, and informed consent of the communities. It was found that livelihoods as a historical result are being transformed by current influences or trends, direct and indirect, internal, and external: some can be managed, and others cannot. These changes require a better preparation from an intercultural perspective, focusing on territories holistically, without neglecting cultural identities, which are the cultural heritage and the value of the livelihoods of the peoples.
