Progress of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at Universities: UNAN-Managua case

Universities have a fundamental function in the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to be the
necessary foundation for the social and professional
future in which the goals for the development of
societies are recorded.
UNAN-Managua is in a new stage, taking an active
role, aimed at Nicaraguan society and its communities,
influencing the participation of social actors to
contribute and benefit development. The university
has assumed the commitment of the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda and
has integrated them into the work carried out from
its substantive functions, for the strengthening of the
University-Society link.
To achieve the results presented in this article, the
methodology of quantitative and qualitative was used,
of the information provided by the programs and
projects executed by the different Academic Units of
UNAN-Managua, which are complying with the SDGs
of the Agenda 2030.
The results of the study carried out in the different
Faculties, POLISAL, Institutes, Research Centers and
Laboratories create a vision on the areas of incidence
towards economic, social and environmental
sustainability from the institutional work towards the
achievement of the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda in the
next ten years.
