Abstract

Physiotherapy from the promotion of physical health
is one of the axes of the extension work at the
university. In this sense, physiotherapists are agents
of change from the primary health care approach. This
essay aims to make known the work of Physiotherapy,
from the promotion of health with individual and
collective actions, as well as the identification of the
main needs according to the analysis of the health
situation. The methodology is a reflective analysis,
through the 2016-2021 documentary review of the
Department of Physiotherapy, where it is evident that
community care and work actions are carried out in
the course of professional training, which strengthen
the role of extension activity, student preparation and
its influence on the development and transformation
of society. The main results are health education for
lifestyle changes in communities, the reduction of
musculoskeletal risks in companies, impact on the
environment at the community and university level,
as well as support for access to health services from
care programs for the Nicaraguan population. Thus,
this has strengthened the links between University State-Society-Business, which are at the service of
the people and has generated a visible and imminent
social commitment in the different sectors where the
profession expands, and, therefore, the University,
from its educational, social and cultural action, creates
the link between the different social actors to be the
main promoter of health from these spaces.
