Abstract

The article “Art, sexuality and life: learning to touch my body” presents a sociocultural educational project at the Maurita Ríos Maternity Home, Nueva Guinea, aimed at pregnant women. The aim of the study is to explore women’s experiences and perceptions of sexual practices during pregnancy, analyzing how these affect their physical, emotional and relational well-being. The project also seeks to ensure that, through art, pregnant women experience self-care, relaxation, security and sensitivity, improving their quality of life during this stage. Using a qualitative methodology based on ethnographic observation, the study designed an innovative strategy that integrates art into sexual education. Through artistic and educational activities, the aim is to empower women and encourage healthy practices in their sexual relationships. The results show that these sociocultural activities sensitized the participants,
helping to break the taboo on sexuality during pregnancy. A creative initiative was proposed, lasting one month and five days, aimed at groups of pregnant women and authorities, achieving active participation and interest in learning about sexuality. Finally, the expansion of these strategies to other groups of pregnant women and the creation of indicators to measure the impact of future initiatives on sexual health is proposed.
