After 200 years of independence, for this scientific dissemination journal, it is important to ask about the scientific development in Honduras. We will not make a list of prominent scientific Hondurans that shine internationally in natural sciences as well as social sciences, pure and applied sciences. What we must ask ourselves is whether our outstanding scientists owe that success to the support they found in our country or whether it is rather an achievement of their personal and family effort. On this prerogative depends, who should feel proud of those triumphs. Do we have a system of instruction that at different levels provides students with all the tools of modernity; with high-level teachers, who know how to stimulate creativity and critical thinking in their students -basic elements for the scientific process-; and who also know how to inspire them to be ethical citizens? Do we have a system that supports the innovative and creative student, in the sciences and in the arts?
