Introduction. Post-COVID-19 condition or long COVID is the disease that occurs in people who have a history of infection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus; that persists beyond 3 months, with symptoms and affections that last at least two months. Methods. For purpose of this study, a review was carried out with available information in multiple search engines (Pubmed, Medline, Scopus, Scholar Google) and the World Health Organization’s web site, from June to August 2022. To be considered, the analyzed articles had to published in indexed journals. Discussion. Evidence indicates that up to 1 in 5 COVID-19 patients may suffer from long COVID. Reports indicate the presence of different post-COVID-19 syndromes affecting different systems of the body. It must be suspected in all patients who have persistent symptoms with no other explanation. There is no specific treatment up till now, every case must be handled by a multidisciplinary team. Conclusion. Long COVID is a frequent disease in post-COVID-19 patients, that must be detected and treated with diligence. There is a need for more studies globally to develop reliable data and treatment guidelines.
