Abstract

The latest indicators of perception of corruption in the world are worrisome and even more so for Honduras, which despite international commitments in the fight against corruption, instead of advancing it is going backwards and the efforts seem insufficient. The December 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) report by Transparency International rated the level of corruption in the public sector among 180 countries around the world, using a scale of zero (very corrupt) to 100 (very low corruption). Honduras showed a significant drop of 6 points compared to 2017. The country came to occupy position 157 in this ranking, whose benchmark is Denmark in first place with 90 points.
